David Clark Jacobsen ’69, M.D., Needham, Mass., died on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012, succumbing to complications of treatments for esophageal cancer first diagnosed in 1996. Dave is survived by his wife Gabriela and sons Martin, Matias, Christopher and Brian as well as his mother Jacqueline, brothers Ken ’71 and Garry ’75 and his sister Mardi. Dave graduated from Dartmouth Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. While at the College he was a member of the swim team, Alpha Theta and Casque & Gauntlet.

Terry’s wife, Vivian, sent the following obituary.

“Carl Terrell (Terry) Robinson, beloved husband, father, brother and friend died Thursday, September 8, 2011, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at home surrounded by his family.

“Born in Rye, New York, he graduated from Rye High School in 1965. He received his AB in Political Science from Dartmouth College, 1969 and his MBA in Marketing and Finance from Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth, 1972.

Bob Lefkowits died recently almost five years after being paralyzed in a body surfing accident following a career involving at least nine start-up companies in Silicon Valley. The following was posted by his son, Brad, shortly after Bob died June 28, as an entry on his CarePages site.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must make a final update to my father’s carepage.

“Robert Mark Lefkowits, known affectionately to all of you as Bob, has passed away.

Deborah Safford has informed members of the class that her husband, James Safford, died April 9 of complications of esophageal cancer after a long battle. She adds, “There was no published obituary as Jim’s sphere of acquaintances was terribly diminished. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son, and brother.”

John A. Skirius passed away on November 18, 2010 at his home in Los Angeles with his family at his side. Following Dartmouth, John received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1975 and taught Spanish/American literature at UCLA for over 30 years. A former student described John as a gracious and kind man as well as a renowned expert in his field. He spent much of his time in Mexico and wrote books and published essays on many influential Mexican writers and leaders. He was revered among his Mexican colleagues for his great knowledge of their country and culture.

Stephen A. Davies died November 8, 2010 in Pelham, New York. While in high school Steve’s family moved to Beirut, Lebanon where he attended the American Community School. His experiences there would have lifetime influence on him. Following graduation from Dartmouth he studied Arabic at Princeton then served two years with the U.S. Army. He later received a Master’s degree in both Middle Eastern Studies and Journalism from the University of Michigan. In 1975 Steve returned to Beirut where he reported on the outbreak of civil war.

Carlos Antonio Miller died suddenly last October 21 in the Lima, Peru, airport on his way to Cuba with his wife, Cecelia. Many of us remember him from our recent reunion. His good friend, and our adopted classmate, Dona Heller, provided the following summary of Tonio’s life:
