Andrew 'Andy' Raymond passed away in California, in September of 2023, a few weeks before his wife, Jackie. This obituary was kindly shared with us by Andy's stepdaughter, Bonnie Vandenberg:
Andy Raymond passed away September 2023 at the age of 76 from dementia and comorbidities.
He was a beloved stepfather to myself and my siblings, Janey, Sylvie and Douglas Firestone, to his daughter, Katherine Raymond, and to his two grandsons, Patrick and Jeremy Vandenberg. Andy and my mom Jackie Raymond were married 40 years and were blissfully happy in marriage through thick and thin, through illness and all the rest, till they died within days of each other in 2023.
Andy told hilarious jokes, was brilliant in many ways, loved reading about aliens, history, and outer space, and had fabulous taste in music, classic rock ‘n’ roll of course! He was very proud of his Dartmouth days and of being in a band as the bass player.
Andy had a deep commitment to social justice and demonstrated this with his years of community service and voluntarism alongside his wife, Jackie.
Andy worked hard for his family whether at work or caring for home and hearth, and was a wonderful chef. His endless love for his dogs was perhaps one of the sweetest parts about Andy, next to his warm, strong hugs.
We miss Andy and are glad he is free from illness.
