From The '69Times:

I am sorry to report Tom’s passing on September 23. Rick Willets provided the following from the Federal Reserve Bank website:

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Tom Keady, Manager of the Community Banking Organizations section in the Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation. Tom, who had worked at the Board and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 24 years, died on September 23 after a brief, courageous battle against cancer. Tom is survived by his wife, Marguerite, and his two children, Walter and Anne.

Tom was originally from New England and started a career in the securities business after graduating from Dartmouth College. In the mid-1970s, he spent several years in California as a banker and a state bank examiner. In 1979, he returned to New England and joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston as an examiner, remaining there until he joined the Board in 1988 as a Supervisory Financial Analyst. During this period, Tom and Marguerite, a former staff member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, met at an examiner training school.

Since 1993, Tom was the Manager of the Community Banking Organizations section of the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation. As such, he was responsible for monitoring the financial performance and overseeing the supervision of community state member banks and bank holding companies supervised by the Federal Reserve System. Tom joined the Federal Reserve Board in 1988 as a Supervisory Financial Analyst in the multinational supervision section of the Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation. From 1979 to 1988, Tom had been a bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

A memorial service [was] held September 27 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Reston, Virginia. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to his wife and children at 2416 Sweetbay Lane, Reston, VA 20191. The family has also suggested that donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of Northern Virginia.

Throughout his career with the Federal Reserve, Tom worked tirelessly to address complex bank financial problems and failures, including many that occurred in the late ’80s and early ’90s. His contributions to the Federal Reserve System, and to financial institution supervision in general, were highly regarded and will long be remembered by his colleagues in Washington, D.C., and throughout the System.
