Eldon J. Hall died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Ely, Minnesota on August 11, 2014 after battling COPD for eight years.

Following Dartmouth, Eldon earned his JD at the University of Minnesota Law School and began a private practice in Ely in 1973. During his 30 years in the Minnesota judicial system he served as an assistant St. Louis County attorney, a judge for the 6th Judicial district and finally retired from the St. Louis County Public Defender’s office in 2004. For 22 years Eldon was a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard retiring as a Master Sergeant.

Eldon played guitar with classmates Bob Lundquist and Dave Cross in the band The Coming Thing and was the guitarist for Ham Sandwich with other Dartmouth men. He later continued his musical pursuits with family and friends as lead guitar for a local band in his home town.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane; his son Ian and granddaughter Chelsea Sheebloom and many other relatives and longtime friends.

According to his wishes there was no service and the family will hold a private celebration of his life at a later time.
