David Rees Gilliatt '69 left us on October 17, 2025, at his home in Croton-on-Hudson NY, attended by his wife of 49 years, Karen, and daughter Olivia '08. Dave left campus at the end of freshman year to serve with the 1st Cavalry in Vietnam. On his return in September 1968, he threw himself into his music and studies, followed by law school and legal practice. Whatever he pursued, he did so avidly, and over time became an expert Alpine and X-country skier, sailor, windsurfer, archer, and marksman, as well as a cigar aficionado. Through it all, he maintained a fond embrace of one other '69 and four '71s, who together styled themselves the Dartmouth Alternatives! Society and remained in constant touch from undergraduate days to the present, through shared vacations and the wonder of Zoom every Sunday night in recent years. His warmth, energy, and wonderful eccentricity are deeply missed.
