Do you know an outstanding alumni leader?
As chair of the Alumni Council’s Nominating and Alumni Trustee Search Committee, I’m writing to ask for your input. The Council has been notified of one vacancy for an alumni-nominated seat on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees. Our committee is tasked with identifying candidates for this seat. We invite your recommendations of alumni who are leaders in their fields, are passionate about Dartmouth, have a demonstrated ability to govern, think strategically and critically, and work with complex concepts. Alumni-nominated trustees make up one-third of the board, and selecting qualified candidates is one of the most significant ways we as alumni can influence the governance of the College. In October, the Council will vote to nominate a candidate(s) for the alumni-nominated vacancy.
Although we only recommend a small number of candidates to fill vacancies in a given year, our ability to make strong recommendations requires a robust and diverse pipeline of alumni candidates. Hundreds of alumni have been considered for each past opening. We are dedicated to diversity and inclusion and recognize the need for our pipeline to be filled with alumni from all backgrounds, class years, and experiences to provide the particular skill sets needed by the Board of Trustees and the College at any given time.
The deadline to nominate for this year’s cycle is September 26, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. ET, but recommendations are considered as they are received, so please don’t wait. If you know a fellow alum (from any class) who is qualified to serve on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, I encourage you to share their name with us at dartgo.org/recommend.
