Donald Carl Pogue of Guilford, CT, died peacefully in his sleep on October 26, 2016. Born May 24, 1947 in Macomb, Illinois, he graduated from Dartmouth College in 1969 and Yale Law School in 1973. He worked as a labor lawyer in Connecticut and proudly represented labor unions for many years before serving as the Connecticut Commissioner of Hospitals and Healthcare and then as a Judge in the CT Superior Court. In 1995 he was appointed as a Judge for the US Court of International Trade where he served as Chief Judge from 2010-2014 and assumed senior status in 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan E. Pogue (Bucknell); daughters Tamara Drangstveit and her husband Russell Drangstveit, and Tregony Simoneau and her husband Brian Simoneau; grandchildren Amelia, Aila, Harper, Graham, Anja and Phoebe; sister Doris Larson and her husband Lars Larson; and step-mother Joyce Pogue. An avid hiker who enjoyed skiing and sailing, Don will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his dedication to justice, and his commitment to family and community. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 11:00am at The Christ Episcopal Church in Guilford, CT. Burial will be private. Friends may call to the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford on Wednesday, November 2nd from 5 - 7pm.
