Alumni Council

A message from Jim Staros, our Alumni Council representative.

Dear ’69 Classmates,

On October 20-22, the week before homecoming, the 213th Alumni Council will be meeting in Hanover.  As the class representative to Alumni Council, I want to give you a sense of what is on the agenda for this meeting and to solicit your thoughts concerning questions to raise and topics about which you would like to hear more when I report back to the class after the meeting.

The theme of this meeting is “Dartmouth for All: Fostering an Inclusive Community.”  Two sessions that jumped out to me as having special interest are a report on the newly implemented residential communities at Dartmouth, and a panel discussion about the diversity of political thought nationally and at Dartmouth featuring faculty members Andrew Samwick, Sonu Bedi, and Leslie Butler.  There will also be a session with President Hanlon and Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences Michael Mastanduno, and another with members of the Board of Trustees.  Another highlight is a celebration in honor of this year’s Alumni Award winners.

I will report back to you a couple of weeks after the meeting, once I have received the official minutes, etc.  In the meantime, I hope to see many classmates at Homecoming, as we build the momentum toward our 50th Reunion.

With best wishes,
