How to Stay Connected to your Classmates and our College
There are many ways to learn about and keep in touch with classmates. How many of these have you tried?
Events
Homecomings. Attend the annual Dartmouth Night and Homecoming celebration in the Fall, complete with a Friday night informal dinner followed by the parade, Dartmouth Night speeches, the bonfire, and a Class Reception for drinks and munchies in the Hanover Inn. On Saturday there are College sponsored events, The Game, shopping, the Class Meeting, and fine dinner. Some folks meet for Sunday breakfast, as well. Check out
photos from prior years in the Galleries.
Reunions. It's a good thing Reunions only happen every 5 years: it takes most of us that long to recover. Check out
photos from previous Reunions. Our 45th will be Monday-Thursday, June 9-12, 2014. Start planning now. Save the date and be there!
Mini-reunions. Any gathering of two or more 69s can count as a Mini-Reunion. Get together with some classmates in your area, take a few photos, write a paragraph about it and submit it for the site. (Don't know how to find alums in your area? Or in an area you will be visiting? Go to the
Alumni Directory, log in and do an 'advanced' search: put in 1969 for the class and pick a state from the drop down list. You will get a list of classmates and can click on each name to get contact information. Way cool, dude.)
Class projects. (More info to follow.)
Online communication and connections
Updates and stories about classmates are available (both the
old stuff and the
new stuff). After you have read through some of these, we're sure you will be inspired to contact the webmaster with some news or an update about yourself, or a Class mate you remain in touch with.
eGreen Card. Send us an
update electronically for the Class web site, for the DAM, or for The 69Times. You think no one is interested in what you are doing and what your life is or has been like. Wrong! Lots of your classmates really do want to know.
Classmate links. Check the list here of
links related to classmates and their activities. Check it out. See what some of your classmates are doing. If you are bored, sit down with a Green Book and mine Google for links to add.
Photo Galleries. Look at
photos of Classmates at various events over the years. There are over 800 photos spanning 3 Reunions and 8 Homecomings, plus photos of Hanover and the campus, photos contributed from the 'good old days' and some New England scenery thrown in for reasons of nostalgia. Contact the webmaster if you have photos, new or old, that you would like to add to the site.
The 69Times. Download and read archived copies of The 69Times.
The Forum. Stop by the
Forum on our Class site. There may be a conversation going on you want to join. Or perhaps there is something on your mind and you want to start a conversation.
Subscribe. Want to be notified when new stories are posted? Subscribe to the site using the RSS button in the top menu and and user your favorite newsreader to get update whenever a new story is posted
Slide show. For a little nostalgia, we have built a slide show of campus scenes with musical accompaniment. Coming soon.
Mailing Lists
The Class has several mailing lists to make communication easier.
- An announcement list (Class-69-Announce) used only by the officers to share information about Class activities and events with classmates. It is also used to announce classmate deaths. It is a low volume list, and is NOT used for discussion. Subscribers cannot post. If you are not on this list (or are not sure) you should use the Contact Us link to contact the webmaster.
- A discussion list (Class-69) where participating members of the Class can discuss anything they find interesting. It currently averages 10 posts a week and as of September 2010 had about 85 members and had sent a total of ~15,000 posts since its inception in 1999. If you wish to join this list, send an E-mail to Listserv@listserv.dartmouth.edu with Subscribe Class-69 as the subject line and as the ONLY text in the body of the email. Your request will be forwarded to the List owner and you will be added to the list and able to participate. If you have difficulty subscribing, you can also use the Contact Us link to request help.
- An officer's list (Class-69-officers) and an expanded steering committee list (class-69-exec) for discussion of Class business.
